The ocean has a magical way of bringing joy and calm, and we believe its healing powers should be accessible to everyone, regardless of physical or mental ability. That’s why Stoked Surf, in partnership with African Blue Tours Accessible Division, sponsors beach outings for the children of Sinethemba Special Care Centre
On a recent sunny day, we had the privilege of taking 50 children, along with their caregivers and wheelchairs, to Fish Hoek Beach. Some children dipped their toes into the water for the first time, while others enjoyed the simple joy of sitting on the beach, soaking in the sun and the sensory wonders of the environment.
Seeing the joy and excitement that this beach experience brought to these children was truly heart-warming. For many of them, especially those with mobility impairments, getting to experience the outdoors is a challenge. The simple act of feeling the ocean on their skin, the sand between their toes, and the warmth of the sun on their faces was nothing short of a gift. It was a reminder of how often we take these small, everyday experiences for granted.
It was also a beautiful reminder that the beach isn’t just a place for surfing and recreation—it’s a space for connection, healing, and inclusion. Watching the children’s faces light up reaffirmed our belief in the importance of these outings.
